We were delighted to be awarded the Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire Chamber’s ‘School of the Year’ Award on Friday evening. We were selected from a shortlist of three schools to receive the award in recognition of our commitment to nurturing employability skills and business links for young people.
The criteria stated “This award exemplifies all that is good about our schools. As a sponsor [Boots] we are proud to recognise the outstanding work our schools do, and will continue to do, to deliver a new generation of successful, independent and employable young people.”
The Award recognised the ‘employment intelligence’ programme together with the range of trips and visits and employer-led partnerships within the Academy. The Award looked at the Academy's enthusiasm to embrace new ways of working and to bring business in to the academy or to ‘get involved’ with new projects and to authorise students to step away from the whiteboard, to the Governors for their unwavering support, to the businesses who work with us to provide opportunities for the students and, of course – absolutely to the Business & Enterprise team who work so hard to achieve the results.
