On 18 March, our Year 11 Manager, Mr Lowther, is putting on his boxing gloves to raise money for Cancer Research UK tomorrow night. Every penny raised will go directly to suporting cancer sufferers or supporting research that is needed for countless sufferers of this disease. The event is facilitated by Ultra White Collar Boxing who have raised over 5 million pounds for Cancer Research UK.
The weigh-in took place last night, and Mr Lowther met his opponent for the first time. Mr Lowther said, "I am ok with the guy I'm fighting, and very much looking forward to tomorrow night. Injuries are healing and I'm feeling positive! Got the shorts ready, and will be entering the ring to the band of the Grenadier guards!! "
Mr Lowther has been training for eight weeks in the build up to the fight. Mr Lowther said, "Since leaving the army, this has been the most physically demanding thing I have done. I have suffered bruised ribs, a black eye, a sprained thumb and injured my jaw, but I am still going strong and very much looking forward to the big night. Thank you to all those who have supported me so far, especially Mr Elland [Y10 Manager] who has been putting me through my paces." "
We wish Mr Lowther all the best on Saturday night.
