To start the day, we saw some lovely festive sights as staff and students walked in proudly wearing their Christmas jumpers, hats and flashing lights in support of our Christmas Jumper Day.
After lunch, we were joined by children from Bulwell St Mary's Primary School who were seeking nativity characters and found King Herod in our Boardroom.
Then followed the Community Afternoon Tea in the restaurant which was really enjoyable - particular thanks to Chef and his brilliant team who provided fabulous refreshments whilst the junior choir and the newly formed Academy 'swing band' really had toes tapping.
The sixth form students were a credit to the Academy and gave a superb impromptu rendition of carols to get the event off to a flying start.
All our afternoon guests remained for the Christmas Fair which was well supported by community groups, staff, students, family and friends. Even Santa popped in to see us and put smiles on the faces of our younger guests.
After a lightening-quick tidy-up after the Fair, we re-opened our doors, pulled back the curtains, and put on the best pantomime ever (oh yes it was...). As a result of Mrs Beresford's and Miss Stopard's creative talents, we had the audience laughing along to the ugliest of sisters, poorest of Cratchits and washerwomen with the dirtiest laughs ever to tread the boards.
Well done Bulwell Academy for a memorable day and evening! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
