On Saturday 10 December, our cross-country runners ran in their 3rd and final race (at Berry Park, Mansfield) in the Nottinghamshire Schools Cross Country League.

The final results from the three races are shown below:

  • Year 10/11 Girls moved up to claim 2nd place (Runners-up and Silver Medallists)
  • Year 10/11 Boys moved up to claim 2nd place (Runners-up and Silver Medallists)
  • Year 7 Boys moved up from 6th place to finish in 3rd place (Bronze Medallists)
  • Year 7 Girls moved up from 5th to finish in 4th place

Well done to all those who took part. A special acknowledgement goes to Mathew Bainbridge from Year 11 for his five years of dedication to the team. Well done Matthew!

Once again we had the highest number of student participants from any school with nearly forty students completing the course. It was great to see so much support from parents too.

Next up are the City Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park on Wednesday 11 January 2017. Let's see how many students from The Bulwell Academy can make it from this event to the County Schools Finals - which is the qualifying event for the English National School Cross Country Championships!

If you are interested in becoming involved, training takes place every Thursday after school with Mr Brockhurst and Mr Deacon. After Christmas, we will be challenging our runners to complete a full marathon distance by Easter (26 miles over 12 sessions). This is a new challenge open to all abilities (staff are also welcome).
